About Our Founder

Javad M. Khazaeli

Why Road to Status?

Javad is a first generation American and a founding member of Road To Status. He knows the immigration process firsthand and has spent the last 15 years of his career specializing in immigration law and policy enforcement.  Javad is the only private bar attorney in America that has served in senior immigration positions in both the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Labor.

While working for the U.S. government, Javad’s daily experiences helped him realize that there was a very large service gap for immigrants caught in an antiquated, expensive, complex, and mostly paper-based system. He regularly saw immigrants in courtrooms who could not afford proper attorney representation if any at all. Even more troublesome, he saw firsthand how “notarios” took advantage of immigrants by charging them legal fees even though the “notario” had no legal training.

Road to Status was founded with those immigrants and their families in mind. Upon leaving the government, Javad assembled an experienced team of technologists and attorneys and began to build Road to Status. His goal was to create intuitive, safe, and affordable technology to give immigrants the tools and confidence to complete immigration applications on their own or with optional network partner attorney services when cases are more complex.

In addition to helping immigrants complete their immigration paperwork more efficiently on their own, Road to Status also allows immigration attorneys, nonprofits, and businesses to more efficiently process applications and cases while passing along savings to their clients, constituents, and employees. The versatility and flexibility of the platform creates a win-win opportunity for every user type.

Javad spent nine years with the Department of Justice and then the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, National Security Law Division. While with the federal government, he used his expertise in immigration law to prosecute terrorists, terrorist financiers, and individuals engaged in espionage and other criminal acts. Javad worked closely with federal, state and international law enforcement and intelligence agencies. He is well versed in high profile, complex immigration litigations. Javad now uses those skills to develop software to help companies and would be immigrants in their dealings with the federal government.
